HOPE
I wake up in a cold sweat, as usual. I felt a bit disoriented like every morning I can remenber since I was a child. I can’t remenber the date exactly, but I know that there was a time when I could feel pure and fresh air in my lungs with every breath I took. Now, in present days, the only thing I can feel about the air is its humidity and its weight.
Even if the sun has just risen, the heat is unbearable. I have to hurry up to do my work before midday or I’ll have to postpone it. I take a quick breakfast and the mandatorious pill. I don’t want to catch the disease or I’ll die fast and painfully like the others. I’ve seen it too many times as to ignore it. That’s why I’m doing this work: too many people depends on finding the cure or there won’t be anybody left for telling the story of the last four decades. And it has to be remenbered, it must be remenbered so we won’t repeat the same mistakes that our parents made.
